Una volta il mare bagnava l’attuale via Santa Lucia, la strada che oggi corre parallela al lungomare Nazario Sauro è ove situato l’Villa Miramare S.r.l.. Lungomare che prosegue cambiando nome in via Partenope, via Caracciolo ed infine via Mergellina e che fu costruito tra gli ultimi anni dell’800 ed i primi di questo secolo.

L’Villa Miramare S.r.l. originariamente costruito come “Villa Patrizia” nel 1914 fu trasformata in Hotel nel 1944 dopo aver ospitato il Consolato Americano per un lungo periodo nel dopo guerra. Fu allora il solo albergo in città in quanto gli altri erano stati danneggiati seriamente. Perciò l’inaugurazione del “Miramare” insieme ai numerosi eventi dallo stesso sponsorizzati fu salutata dai giornali e dai club sociali come simbolo della rinascita della città.

L’Villa Miramare S.r.l. fu anche conosciuto per il suo ristorante-piano bar “Shaker Club” inaugurato nel 1947 e temporaneamente chiuso a metà degli anni 80′. Allora era tra i piú famosi locali notturni dell’epoca, frequentato da personaggi celebri, dignitari e grandi industriali che durante la bella stagione arrivavano con i loro yachts che ancoravano nel rada circostante via N.Sauro proprio di fronte all’Villa Miramare S.r.l..

Directions by car from autostrada:

Follow the “Zona Portuale – Via Marittima” sign on the autostrada until the end. Choose exit “Via Marittima”. After exit, go straight in the direction of Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino) until you reach the tunnel. Turn left before the tunnel; after about 200 meters you’ll be along the sea. The street becomes a one way street; follow it until it ends – where you’ll have to turn right. After making the turn, you’ll take the first left (Via Orsini), and then make the second left onto Via Cuma. Go straight until the end of the street and make a left onto Via N. Sauro. Villa Miramare S.r.l. will be on your left. The garage next door costs 15 euros per night.

From Capodichino Airport:

The airport is located 7 km away, and is easy to reach by taxi (about 20 minutes). A pre-arranged taxi from the hotel will cost 27 euros. BY CAR: after the airport exit, turn right and take the “tangenziale” in the direction of Pozzuoli. Exit at “Fuorigrotta” and keep going straight. Go through the small tunnel and keep going straight in the direction of Campi Flegrei Station which is at the end of the street. Turn left and go straight, passing through a longer tunnel. After the tunnel, take the second right (the sea will be in front of you) and then make a left (the sea will be on your right hand side). Keep going straight for about 3 km. and you will see Villa Miramare S.r.l., a small grey and pink villa, on your left (just before the road turns left away from the sea).

From Centrale and Mergellina Train Stations:

From Centrale and Mergellina Train Stations:

It is possible to reach Villa Miramare S.r.l. from Molo Beverello Port on foot, following the sea (about 10 minutes). If you have luggage, however, you might choose to take a taxi which should cost around 15 euros. Add 2 euros per bag.
